To Abide

To Abide
To abide with God, sit by the ocean.
Bring a chair along, a comfy chair,
And a mug of tea,
And a blanket,
And your heart.
Sit by the ocean,
Hear the waves, see the sunset paint the water pink,
Breathe cool salt air,
And talk to Him, Jesus, your Friend,
And then, sitting by the ocean,
Listen.
To Abide
To abide with God, go for a run.
Drive to your favorite trail, the still one,
The lonely one, the trail that feels like a church.
Tie your shoelaces, take a step, another, run.
Your lungs are tingling while the trees stretch,
A cathedral,
Above you,
Reaching towards heaven,
And your feet pound the dirt.
Go for a run on your favorite trail
And worship Him, Jesus, your Maker,
Your Lover.
Join the forest and praise Him.
To Abide
To abide with God, paint a picture.
Grab your paints and set up a canvas in the best spot—
The kitchen, the backyard, the attic—
Remember the most beautiful thing you saw today
And put it on your paper.
The world is gone, it’s you and the colors of life
And your brush
And Jesus.
Paint something so beautiful it makes you want to cry
With homesickness for the beauty of heaven,
Tell God you think He made the world beautiful,
And obediently glorify Him with the things you make.
To Abide
To abide with God, enjoy.
Read His Word—His love letter to you
Quietly.
Don’t read it to learn it, read it to get to know Someone.
Don’t read it like it was written to the world, read it like it was written for you:
His daughter. His kid. The one that He likes to spend time with
(He wants to spend the whole day with you).
He loves you so much He died for you
And He likes you so much He wants to talk to you
To hear you
To be with you.
Abide with the Lord by delighting in Him.
